The detail
Modern silicone and K-Rend finishes are not designed to be jet washed. Put a lance on them and you will pit the surface, blow out the joints and leave a permanent shadow where the wash pattern was. It is one of the most common ways a house gets damaged by a cleaning company.
Softwashing does the opposite. A dilute biocidal solution is applied at little more than garden-hose pressure and left to dwell. It kills the algae, lichen and red spotting at the root rather than knocking the top off it, and then the wall is rinsed gently. No pitting, no shadowing, no blown joints.
Because the treatment kills the organism rather than just removing the colour, the wall keeps clearing for two to three weeks after we leave and stays clean far longer than a pressure-washed wall would.

Is softwashing safe for my plants?
We sheet and pre-wet planting before we start and rinse everything down afterwards, which dilutes the solution well below the level that would harm established beds. Anything delicate, tell us and we will cover it separately.
How soon will I see a difference?
You will see a big change on the day, but the wall carries on lightening for two to three weeks as the dead growth weathers off. Do not judge the result on day one.
Can you do painted render?
Yes. Softwashing is far kinder to paint than pressure. On very old or flaking paint we will do a test patch first and show you the result before going any further.
